Australia Student Visa (Subclass 500)

Australia Training Visa (Subclass 407)

The Subclass 407 Training Visa allows individuals to participate in structured workplace-based training in Australia to enhance skills in their job, tertiary studies, or professional development.

To apply, you must:
Have an Approved Sponsor: Your sponsor must be an approved temporary activities sponsor.
Be Nominated: A nomination is required unless your sponsor is a Commonwealth Government agency.
Meet English Language Requirements:
  • IELTS: Average band score of 4.5 across all components.
  • PTE: A total band score of at least 30 based on the 4 test components
  • You can include eligible family members (e.g., spouse, dependent children).

Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)

The Subclass 485 visa allows international graduates to live, work, and gain experience in Australia.
  • Age: Under 35 (or under 50 for Hong Kong/BNO passport holders).
  • English: Meet IELTS (6.5 overall, 5.5 minimum in each band) or equivalent test scores.
  • Qualification: Diploma, degree, or trade qualification related to a nominated occupation on the MLTSSL.

New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship Visa (Subclass 461)

The Subclass 461 visa is designed for individuals who are not New Zealand citizens but are members of the family unit of a New Zealand citizen. This visa allows the holder to live, work, and study in Australia for up to five years and is renewable.
  • Duration: The visa is valid for 5 years from the date of grant.
  • Live, Work, and Study: Visa holders can engage in employment or education in Australia without restrictions.
Eligibility for this visa is tied to your relationship with a New Zealand citizen who:
  • Holds a Subclass 444 Visa (Special Category Visa) or is eligible for one.
  • Is living in Australia or intends to travel with you to Australia.
  • Visa Application Fee: Starts from AUD 430 for the primary applicant. Additional charges apply for family members.
  • Processing Time: Approximately 3 months.

Partnership Visas Options

Australia offers several visa options for partners of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens who wish to live together in Australia. The Subclass 820 and 801 Partner Visas are designed for applicants who are already in Australia. The 820 is a temporary visa, while the 801 visa provides permanent residency after demonstrating a continued, genuine, and stable relationship. You apply for the temporary and the permanent partner visas together.

For couples outside Australia, the Subclass 309 and 100 Partner Visas offer similar pathways, starting with a temporary visa (309) followed by a permanent visa (100) after meeting the necessary relationship criteria. Additionally, the Subclass 300 Prospective Marriage Visa is ideal for fiancés planning to marry in Australia, allowing entry and sufficient time to apply for an onshore partner visa. These visas provide opportunities to live, work, and study in Australia, along with access to Medicare for temporary visa holders.

Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482)

The Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) is a temporary visa designed for skilled professionals to address labour shortages in Australia. This visa allows employers to sponsor workers in high-demand occupations where they cannot find suitably skilled Australian workers. Subclass 482 has three streams.
Eligibility:
  • Be nominated for an occupation on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL).
  • Have at least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Meet English language proficiency requirements (minimum
    IELTS 5.0 overall and 5.0 in each component or PTE overall test score of at least 36 with a score of at least 36 in each of the test components).
  • Earning at least the pay threshold of AUD73,150.

Eligibility:

  • Same stay and eligibility requirements as the Core Skills Stream.
  • Earning at least the pay threshold of AUD135,000 and no less than Australian workers in the same occupation.
  • Any occupation (except trades workers, machinery operators and drivers, and labourers)
Eligibility:
  • Work in Australia under the terms of a Labour Agreement between the employer and the Australian government.
  • Requires 12 months of full-time work experience (or equivalent part- time/casual work) within the last 5 years.

Skilled Work Regional Visa (Subclass 491)

The Subclass 491 visa is a provisional visa for skilled workers who wish to live, work, and study in regional Australia. It offers a pathway to permanent residency after 3 years of living in Australia.
  • Nomination/Sponsorship: Be nominated by a state or territory government agency or sponsored by an
    eligible relative.
  • Age: You must be aged under 45 when invited to apply.
  • Skills Assessment:
  • Points Test: You must score 65 points or more on the points test. Points are awarded for factors such as age, English language proficiency, work experience, and education.
  • English Language: At the time of invitation, you must have at least Competent English.
  • Family Members: If any family members aged 18 or older are included in your application, they must either have functional English or pay a second installment visa application charge.
  • If nominated, the state or territory government will invite you to apply. Each state and territory has its criteria for nomination. You should contact the relevant state or
    territory agency for more information.

  • Alternatively, you can be sponsored by an eligible relative to apply for the visa.

  • Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI):
  • Invitation to Apply: Only invited applicants can apply for this visa.
  • Visa Application: Once invited, you can submit your visa application and wait for processing.
  • You can stay in Australia for 5 years, live, work, and study in regional areas, and apply for permanent residence after 3 years

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa (Subclass 494)

The Subclass 494 visa allows skilled workers to live and work in regional Australia for an employer who is unable to find an appropriately skilled Australian worker. It is designed to address regional labour shortages by enabling employers to sponsor skilled workers in critical sectors.
  1. Employer-Sponsored Stream This stream is for skilled workers nominated by regional employers who are unable to find Australian workers with the necessary skills.
  2. Labour Agreement Stream For skilled workers nominated by employers who have a labor agreement in place with the Australian government. These agreements are developed between the Department of Home Affairs and the employer.
  3. Subsequent Entrant For family members of a primary Subclass 494 visa holder who are applying separately to join the primary visa holder in Australia
  • Stay for 5 years: The visa is granted for a 5-year period.
  • Work and Live in Regional Areas: You can only live, work, and study in designated regional areas of Australia.
  • Permanent Residency Pathway: After holding the visa for 3 years, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency under the Subclass 191 visa (Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional)).
  • Cost: From AUD 4,770.
  • Nomination: You must be nominated by an approved work sponsor who is located in
    a designated regional area of Australia.
  • Occupation: Your occupation must be on the relevant skilled occupation list.
  • Skills Assessment: You must have a suitable skills assessment for your occupation.
  • Age: You must be under 45 years of age at the time of application.
  • English Proficiency: You must meet the minimum English language proficiency standards.

Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) Visa (Subclass 191)

The Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa allows individuals who have lived and worked in designated regional areas of Australia on an eligible visa (subclass 491 or 494) to apply for permanent residence. Subclass 191 is one of the lowest-fee visa options with an application fee of only AUD 490.
  • You must have held an eligible visa (subclass 491 or 494) for at least 3 years before applying for the Subclass 191 visa.
  • While there is no minimum income requirement, you must provide notices of assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for three income years out of the five years that you held the eligible visa.
  • You must have complied with the conditions of your eligible visa throughout your stay in Australia.
  • You and your family members must meet Health and Character requirements.

Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)

The Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated Visa is a permanent visa for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government. This visa allows you to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident.
  1. Be Invited to Apply: You can only apply for this visa if you receive an invitation to apply.
  2. State or Territory Nomination: You must have been nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency. Each state or territory may have its own list of eligible occupations, so it’s important to check their specific requirements.
  3. Skills Assessment: Your application must include a suitable skills assessment for the occupation you are nominated for.
  4. Age Requirement: You must be under 45 years of age when you receive your invitation to apply for the visa. If you turn 45 after the invitation, you are still eligible to apply.
  5. Points Test: The Subclass 190 visa is a points-tested visa. You must score at least 65 points to be eligible for an invitation. Your points are calculated based on factors such as age, English proficiency, work experience, and education.

Skilled Independent Visa (Points-Tested Stream) (Subclass 189)

The Subclass 189 Skilled Independent Visa is a permanent visa for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, a family member, or a state or territory government. It allows you to live and work anywhere in Australia.
  1. Be Invited to Apply: You must receive an invitation to apply for the visa.
  2. Skills Assessment: Your application must be supported by a suitable skills assessment in your
    nominated occupation. You must declare that you have this assessment at the
    time you receive your invitation.
  3. Age Requirement: You must be under 45 years of age at the time you are invited to apply. However, if you turn 45 after the invitation, you will still be eligible to apply.
  4. Points Test: This visa is points-tested, and you must score at least 65 points on the points test when submitting your EOI. Your points score is based on various factors such as age, English language proficiency, work experience, and education.
  5. English Language Requirement: You must have at least Competent English at the time of invitation.
  6. Eligible Occupation: Your occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations for the Subclass 189 visa Points-Tested stream.
